52 Week Goal Challenges

"He who eats until he is sick must fast until he is well."
- English Proverb

Hey everyone and welcome to week 48 of the 52-Week Goal Challenges and this week, we are focused on our gut health.

To complete this challenge, you must do at least one, 24-hour food fasts this week. What I mean by food fast is you can still drink water.

I know that to some people fasting is a four-letter word because many people’s idea of fasting is like a monk starving for months.

But there are considerable benefits to fasting. Trust me; I used to think, “yeah, cause starving your body of food is beneficial, what a buncha bull crap!”

But then, by doing these challenges, thankfully, I became more open-minded, and I decided to give it a go. And by golly it worked!

Here are just a few of the benefits.

Fasting promotes better health by fighting inflammation. It may enhance heart health by improving blood pressure, Triglycerides and Cholesterol Levels. It may Boost Brain Function and Prevent Neurodegenerative Disorders. Fasting aids weight loss by limiting calorie intake and boosting metabolism. Fasting increases growth hormone secretion, which is vital for growth, metabolism, weight loss and muscle strength.

The most significant benefit I noticed when I got into fasting, mainly intermittent fasting, was the positive effects it had on my digestion.

When we are continually eating, we aren’t giving our bodies enough time to digest the food, and it can lead to problems such as IBS or excess gas etc.

Small periods of fasting give our bodies the time it needs to digest the food and absorb the nutrients.

Digestion is one of the biggest consumers of energy in our body, and if it is continuously working, then you will feel tired all the time.

When I started fasting, I noticed I was way less gassy, I had fewer stomach cramps, and I had more energy.

Don’t believe me? Then try it for yourself.

If you have any unique medical conditions such as diabetes, then I would highly recommend you consult with your physician before deciding to do any fasting.

The holidays are coming up. For most of us, that means stuffing our faces with all the decadents Christmas has to behold. This can be hard on our digestive systems. So heaven knows we could all use a freaking cleanse.

I am super excited to see how this week goes for you, and we would love to hear your results from your fast. Did you notice any changes? Did your digestion or your energy improve? Let us know how it goes by posting in the 52 Week Goal Challenges Facebook group, and if you don’t use Facebook by commenting on the you-tube or Instagram video.
