52 Week Goal Challenges

Hello everyone, and welcome to week 46 of the 52-week goal challenge, and this week, we are focusing on de-stressing through the means of one of the greatest gifts to humanity.

To complete this week’s challenge, you must listen to at least 30 minutes of music every day, and that doesn’t mean podcasts or audiobooks, but music.

According to life hack.org, there are scientifically proven benefits of listening to music, such as boosting your mood, enhancing running performance, lowering stress, and improving health. It helps you sleep better, and keeps your brain healthy during old age.

It also reduces depression, helps eat less, elevates your mood while driving, and improves learning and memory.

Studies have also shown that music can help Alzheimer’s patients remember, and music can improve recovery in stroke patients.

Music can also increase verbal intelligence and raise your IQ and academic performance.

I feel like some songs can lower your IQ, not to mention any names or anything… you know who you are. So that one may be subjective.

Also, music relaxes patients before/after surgery and reduces pain. I have experienced this one personally. When I was in my accident, I sustained a lot of injuries that required painful dressing changes. Luckily I had nurses who would play music for me during those dressing changes.

In the beginning, the pain was excruciating, but as I focused on the music, it calmed my nerves, and in many cases, I forgot that I was even in pain… until they pulled a bandage off.

The point is music has a powerful effect on our brains and can substantially influence our behavior.

Now keep in mind that music can be damaging if we listen to it too loud, so listen to it responsibly this week.

One of the great things about music is that it is a form of art, and all artwork is subjective, which means what I like listening to may not be your cup of tea.
