52 Week Goal Challenge
"Peace begins with a smile."
- Mother Teresa
To complete this week’s challenge you must give a genuine smile to 3 different people every day.
Now if you're one of those people who think smiling is for overly optimistic people who are ignorant of the dark, depressing world around them and need to get woke, then listen up grumpy face because there are huge scientific benefits to smiling.
We are naturally drawn to people who smile. There is a real physical attraction factor linked to the act of smiling. So smiling makes us attractive.
Smiling can trick the body into helping you elevate your mood because the physical act of smiling actually activates neural messaging in your brain, relieving things like stress.
When you smile, there is a measurable reduction in your blood pressure. If you don’t believe me then give it a try if you have a blood pressure monitor at home.
It is scientifically proven that smiles are "contagious." The part of your brain that is responsible for controlling facial expressions is an unconscious automatic response area. That means that smiling can be completely unconscious, particularly when it comes to our habit of mimicking another person's smile.
Studies have shown that smiling releases endorphins, natural painkillers, and serotonin. Together, these three neurotransmitters make us feel happy and positive.
Studies have shown that people who smile regularly appear more confident, are more likely to be promoted, and are more likely to be approached.
So those are just a few undeniable science-based benefits to smiling so the next time you have an excuse to frown then turn that frown upside down and rethink your life choices!
I am excited to see how this weekly challenge goes for you and we would love to hear about it!
