52 Week Goal Challenge

“The difference between technology and slavery is that slaves are fully aware that they are not free”
― Nassim Nicholas Taleb

Video Summary:

To complete this week’s challenge it is pretty self explanatory, you must turn off electronics at least an hour before bed.

Research has shown that the blue wavelength light from LED-based devices (phones, tablets, computers etc., increases the release of cortisol in the brain, which makes us more alert, and inhibits the production of melatonin, which is needed to fall asleep.

This will also help give you the opportunity to master your self control. People who are addicted to their devices will often feel anxiety when they are away from them and this is a great way to find out for yourself if technology has become more of a vice than something positive for you.

Doing this can also strengthen your relationships with your loved ones. I find that when I am lying in bed I am typically scrolling through Facebook and Instagram and my wife is as well. We call it our “wind down” time but who are we kidding, if we actually took that time and spent it bonding then it would be way more beneficial to our relationship and would break the roommate cycle that so many of us couples get into.

So this week it’s time to take back yo sleep, yo self control, and yo relationships by turning off the dang electronics before bed.

Thank you for watching and good luck!
